Antam’s Chemical Grade Alumina Project Runs Smoothly
Jakarta-TAMBANG. As added value policy imposed by the government, mineral mining companies in Indonesia are planning to build domestic smelting / processing facilities. PT Aneka Tambang, Tbk (ANTM), as a state-owned mining company, has been working on a Chemical Grade Alumina (CGA) project in Tayang, West Kalimantan Province.
Up until December 2012, the project has entered construction phase. According to a company brief sent to Majalah TAMBANG, the construction progress has reach 86.1%.
In addition to the CGA project, Antam has also been working on a Ferronickel facility in East Halmahera, North Maluku Province. Another project proceeding is modernization and optimization of the Ferronickel facility in Pomalaa, Southeast Sulawesi Province, which includes a steam power plant establishment of PLTU Pomalaa (MOP-PP project).
Currently, all projects have been reported to run smoothly according to plan. For the Ferronickel project in East Halmahera, the physical construction has reached 3.9%, while the one in Pomalaa has reached 20.1%.
Additionally, Antam has two major projects currently at feasibility studies phase, namely the Smelter Grade Alumina (SGA) Mempawah in West Kalimantan Province, and the Nickel Pig Iron Mandiodo in Southeast Sulawesi. []
