Prolonged issue of Mining Area (WP in its Indonesian abbreviation) determination has subsequently stalled the determination of People’s Mining Area (WPR in its Indonesian abbreviation). Environmental NGOs Warns Tin Miners in Bangka Belitung
Jakarta – TAMBANG. Wahana Lingkungan Hidup Indonesia (Walhi), an Indonesian based environmental NGO, works alongside Friends of the Earth Netherlands and Friends of the Earth England to express their concerns towards safety and environmental impact of tin mining in Bangka-Belitung Province. The joint effort was carried out by sending letters to all mining companies in the province, which produces 90% of Indonesia’s tin.

Jakarta – TAMBANG. The State Owned Enterprises Minister, Dahlan Iskan, has decided to extend the term for Karen Agustiawan as the President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero). As stipulated in the decree No. SK-174/MBU/2013, issued on March 5, 2013, her period is temporarily extended until a definitive President Director is appointed.

Legislatives: Regional Autonomy Legalize Illegal Mining in Bangka-Belitung
Regional autonomy has made worse the illegal mining practices in Bangka Belitung Province, since local authorities and bureaucrats themselves involve in the case. Not only causing financial loss for the state income, illegal mining has also caused environmental damages. Ismayatun, a member of the 7th commission at the national legislative board, stated above allegation.
