Sarulla Geothermal Power Plant Project Awaits for SOL’s Commitment
The government is looking forward for Sarulla Operation Limited (SOL)’s commitment in developing Sarulla Geotherma Power Plant in North Tapanuli, North Sumatera, to be able to operate soon. Rida Mulyana, Director General for New and Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation, told that the 3x110 MW power plant could start operation after signing Joint Operation Contract and electricity purchase contract.

Funding Issues May Obstruct Government’s Plan to Takeover Inalum
Jakarta - TAMBANG. Government’s plan to takeover Nippon Asahan Aluminium Co. Ltd shares at PT Indonesia Asahan Alumunium (Inalum) has apparently been stalled due to some funding issues. MS Hidayat, the Industry Minister, admitted that the government has only acquired approximately US$200 million out of the total US$700 million needed to purchase 58.88% shares.

Bantaeng Regent: Attracting Investor with Electricity
Nurdin Adullah, Banteng Regent, has just signed an MoU with the state utility company, PT PLN (Persero), to supply the electricity needs of Bantaeng Regency last Friday (2/15) in Jakarta. “I promise to do everything within my power and authority, to provide PLN with whatever it needs to supply electricity in Bantaeng, such as providing land for power plant construction.”

Gov’t Incentives to Boost Oil & Gas Exploration Activities
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources is heading for incentives policy to boost oil and gas exploration activities, in search for new oil & gas deposit. Jero Wacik, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, pronounced that his office and other related ministries are assessing the possibilities of incentives policy. He reckoned that the policy would be critical to secure future energy availability.
